KANKAKEE – A woman and a young child’s condition are unknown this afternoon after a crash left their Cadillac SUV sideways on a residential road.

It happened Sunday afternoon near South Third Avenue and W VANMETER Street. Witnesses on scene report the Cadillac SUV was headed down the road at a high rate of speed and drove onto the front bumper of a Ford Sedan in the roadway. That reportedly caused the SUV to go airborne before tilting onto its side, slamming into a park truck, roof first.

Kankakee Fire and Rescue responded to the crash, extracting multiple people from the SUV including a young child in a car seat.

The driver of the SUV was carried off on a stretcher. No word on either victim’s condition at this hour.
