BOURBONNAIS, IL – Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with KAMEG agents, arrested a man Thursday night on multiple weapons and drug-related charges.

The arrest of 33-year-old Corey D. Anderson was made near a school or park, which led to additional charges of possessing or distributing a controlled substance with the intent to sell or deliver in those areas.

Anderson, a Hazelcrest resident, was charged with manufacturing pills, possession of narcotics, possession of a machine gun or automatic weapon, possession of a stolen firearm, and possession of a firearm by a felon.

He is also facing pending charges in Will County.  Details of those charges have yet to be announced.

The KAMEG and the Sheriff’s Office worked together to make the arrest, which was executed after a traffic stop in a mobile home park in rural Bourbonnais. The officers located multiple firearms, including a stolen firearm and a firearm that had been illegally converted to allow for automatic fire (“Glock Switch”), as well as narcotics in the vehicle.

In a press release, Sheriff Mike Downey expressed concern that someone as dangerous as Anderson could be released on electronic monitoring and free to roam the streets during specific hours of the day, which he used to commit further acts of crime. Downey also commended the cooperative efforts of each participating agency to take this dangerous individual off the streets.

Anderson remains in custody at the Jerome Combs Detention Center and awaits his initial court arraignment in a Kankakee County courtroom.
