Illinois Home Depot Scam Alert: Rented Equipment Sold to Unsuspecting Buyer

COUNTRYSIDE, ILLINOIS – A bold deception unfurled at the Countryside Plaza Home Depot earlier this month. 

According to Countryside Police reports, on September 14th, a buyer, having arranged an online purchase, met the seller to buy landscaping equipment for $900. The twist? The seller had merely rented the equipment from Home Depot moments prior. 

The store later confirmed this audacious scam, leading to a serious alert for consumers and an ongoing investigation by the Countryside Police Department.
