IROQUOIS COUNTY, IL – In a bizarre and tragic incident, a Thawville man met an untimely end while operating a mower near the Iroquois-Ford county line. August Crowley, 40, was discovered lifeless in the family pond on June 30 by his relatives, along with the very same mower he had been using.

Preliminary findings from County Coroner Bill Cheatum’s autopsy suggest that Crowley’s cause of death was drowning. It appears that the unsuspecting victim somehow ended up in the pond while carrying out his mowing duties. Further investigations are underway, with toxicology results expected to provide additional insights into this baffling occurrence.

The unexpected loss of August Crowley has left the community in shock, as friends and neighbors struggle to come to terms with the tragic accident. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Rosenbaum Funeral Home in Gibson City, where mourners will gather to bid their final farewells.
