Indiana K-9 Loki Retires After Racking Up $3.3 Million in Seizures

Indianapolis, IN – After an illustrious eight-year career, the Indiana State Police bid farewell to their furry crime-fighting partner, K-9 Loki. The dedicated Belgian Malinois, paired with Senior Trooper Richard R. Klun, has officially retired from active duty.

Loki’s legacy is marked by remarkable achievements, including his role in 450 successful drug searches, resulting in the seizure of a staggering 12 lbs. of methamphetamine, 185 lbs. of marijuana, 19 lbs. of heroin, and 1 lb. of cocaine, along with various other narcotics. These operations led to a remarkable 412 criminal arrests, solidifying Loki’s reputation as a formidable force against drug-related crime.

In addition to their drug-busting successes, Loki and Trooper Klun joined forces with fellow agencies on 146 occasions, participated in 202 warrant services, and executed 50 meticulous building and area searches. Their efforts played a pivotal role in tracking down 27 criminals and making 10 apprehensions, contributing significantly to public safety.

Loki’s keen nose and relentless determination also resulted in the seizure of 155 firearms and an impressive sum of approximately $181,000 in U.S. currency. The street value of Loki’s total seizures throughout his career stands at an astonishing $3.3 million.

The remarkable K-9 responded to a remarkable 883 calls for service during his tenure, showcasing his dedication to duty and his community. Loki’s commitment extended beyond law enforcement, as he played a crucial role in locating three missing persons.

As Loki enters his well-deserved retirement, he will enjoy spending time with his partner and family. Their bond, forged through years of teamwork and shared challenges, will undoubtedly continue to flourish in this new chapter of Loki’s life.
