Kankakee, Illinois – Kankakee Valley Park District (KVPD) is hosting a special “Lighting of the Tree of Honor” event. This ceremony, part of a community effort to support active military members, will be an occasion for the public to contribute care packages.

Donations can be made at several locations, including the Bird Park Administrative Office, KVPD Rec Center, and Ice Valley Centre Ice Arena, as well as at the event itself. The community is encouraged to donate a variety of items, such as personal hygiene products, hand and foot warmers, white socks, non-perishable snacks, feminine products, and more.

The Bird Park Administrative Office, located at 893 W. Station St., Kankakee, will be accepting donations until December 7. These contributions will be sent to Adopt A Soldier, directly supporting those in active military service.
