Lake County, Indiana: Homicide Investigation Launched After 65-Year-Old Man Fatally Shot

Gary, IN – A homicide investigation is underway after a 65-year-old man was found fatally shot at his home on Saturday morning in Lake County.

According to the Lake County Coroner’s Office, Pen Standifer, of the 4100 block of W. 23rd Ave., was pronounced dead at Northlake Methodist Hospital at 10:04 a.m. after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds. The incident has been ruled a homicide.

A forensic autopsy was performed at the Lake County Forensic Center in Crown Point on Monday, June 3. The autopsy confirmed that Standifer’s death was due to multiple gunshot wounds.

The Gary Police Department, Lake County Sheriff’s Department CSI, Lake County Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force, and Gary Fire Department EMS are all involved in the investigation.
