Homewood Homicide: Dolton, Flossmoor Man Arrested in First Degree Murder Case

Homewood, IL – Village of Homewood Police Department announced the arrest of two individuals on charges of first-degree murder Tuesday morning. 

The arrests were made in relation to a tragic incident that occurred on November 27, 2022, in the 17500 block of Dixmoor. The victim, a 25-year-old male, was found deceased in a vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds.

On April 27, 2023, authorities arrested 22-year-old Nicholas Matthews from the 15600 block of Madison Avenue in Dolton, IL. Matthews is charged with one count of first-degree murder. Following this development, on July 14, 2023, 22-year-old Ryan Carter from the 1000 block of Park Drive in Flossmoor, IL, was also apprehended and charged with the same offense.

The Homewood Police Department, in collaboration with the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force, is diligently investigating the incident. Based on current findings, it is believed that the shooting was a targeted attack.

To ensure the integrity of the ongoing investigation, the victim’s identity is being withheld until the family is notified. However, the Homewood Police Department encourages anyone with information pertaining to this incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.
