Precautionary Boil Order Issued for Parts of Joliet After Water Main Repairs

JOLIET, IL – The Department of Public Utilities has issued a precautionary boil order for parts of Joliet after a water main repair occurred at 3001 Channahon Road on April 12, 2023. The repair is expected to be completed in the morning, but a possible cross contamination during the repairs prompted officials to issue the order until the water can be confirmed safe to drink.

Customers located at 3000-3300,2780 and 777 Channahon Road, 1600-1800 block of Terry Dr., 1800-1900 Terminal Ct.,1704 Alexandria Dr., 2400 block of Reeves Rd., 1700 block of Irish Indian Trail, Youngs Rd., and Cavalea Dr., are advised to boil water for at least five minutes before using it for cooking or drinking purposes.

The precautionary boil order will remain in effect until laboratory sampling confirms that water quality has been fully restored. Laboratory testing takes a minimum of 24 hours before results are available, and repairs and sampling are expected to be completed this afternoon. Customers will receive notification once the order has been lifted.
