Tragic Shooting in Indiana Leaves Toddler Dead

Lafayette, IN – A heartbreaking incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon when a 16-month-old boy was fatally shot by his 5-year-old sibling inside a Lafayette, Indiana apartment. 

According to police, the older sibling accessed a handgun inside the apartment and shot Isiah Johnson, the toddler victim. The authorities have not disclosed any further information on how the 5-year-old accessed the firearm.

An autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday.

The police have interviewed all three individuals who were present in the apartment, including one adult and the two children. However, no arrests have been made, and the case is still under investigation. Once the investigation is completed, the case will be sent to the Tippecanoe County Prosecutor’s Office for review to determine if charges might be filed.

The incident took place at the Romney Meadows apartment complex, situated approximately 60 miles north of Indianapolis. The local authorities have yet to comment on the type of firearm involved in the shooting.
