MICHIGAN CITY, IN – Firefighters faced a daunting task when a massive fire broke out Monday in the 8100 block of North Meer Road around 6:15 p.m.

According to reports the property, teeming with vehicles and scrap, saw both its large barn and a neighboring garage entirely ablaze. Trees and vehicles close by weren’t spared. The abundance of vehicles impeded the firefighters, but with sheer determination, they laid water lines from nearby streets and properties.

Local residents rallied, supplying the firefighters with hydration. By morning, the fire was fully contained, with neighboring areas safe. The fire’s origin is still under scrutiny, but there were no reported injuries.
