Portage, IN – Police in Portage are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect connected to a retail theft reported earlier this month.

According to the Portage Police Department, the incident occurred on Wednesday, April 16, 2026, and involved the alleged theft of approximately $1,300 worth of trading cards from a Game Stop location. Investigators say the individual captured in surveillance images is believed to be involved in the case.

Authorities released a photo of the suspect inside the store, showing a man wearing a dark baseball cap, glasses, and a light-colored hoodie. Police have not released additional identifying details but are urging anyone who recognizes the individual to come forward.

The case is being investigated in Portage, located in Porter County in northwest Indiana, part of the greater Chicago metropolitan region. Retail theft incidents like this have become increasingly common targets for investigators due to the resale value of collectible items such as trading cards.

Police say the suspect has not been identified at this time, and no charges have been filed. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to gather more information.
