Canton, OH – A community-wide food drive aimed at supporting local veterans is set to begin this week, with multiple drop-off locations available across Stark County.
According to the Stark County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the Louisville Police Department and the Veterans Service Commission of Stark County, the annual food drive will run from Friday, May 1 through Sunday, May 31, 2026. The initiative benefits veterans staying at the Honor Home in Canton, which provides transitional housing for those working toward permanent stability.
Officials say the program supports a range of individuals, including homeless women veterans and their children, as well as single male veterans. Community members are encouraged to donate non-perishable and shelf-stable food items throughout the month.
Donations can be dropped off at several locations, including the Stark County Sheriff’s Office on Atlantic Boulevard in Canton, the Louisville Police Department on West Main Street, the Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Training Center in Massillon, and the Veterans Service Commission office on Wise Avenue in Canton. Availability hours vary by location, with some sites open 24/7.
Suggested donation items include boxed meals, canned goods, snacks, drink mixes, condiments, and kid-friendly nonperishable foods.
The effort spans across Stark County in northeast Ohio, including Canton, Massillon, and Louisville, with organizers emphasizing the importance of community support in helping veterans transition to stable housing.
Officials encourage residents to contribute what they can and help make a difference for those who have served.
