Tragic Car Crash Claims Life of Beloved Barnes & Noble Manager in Bourbonnais

BOURBONNAIS, IL – The Barnes & Noble community is mourning the tragic loss of Barry Dufrain, the beloved store manager.

“It is with a very heavy heart that we share that our store manager, Barry Dufrain, passed away this week,” said Barnes & Noble Bourbonnais in a statement posted on social media Saturday morning. “He touched the lives of so many, and he will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.”

Dufrain’s life was tragically cut short in a single-vehicle crash in Iroquois County on Sunday after his car left the roadway, rolled over several times, and eventually caught fire.

The devastating news of Barry’s untimely passing quickly spread throughout the Barnes & Noble community. Dufrain had been a dedicated employee since 2006 and was known for his passion for movies, horror, and Halloween.

A Celebration of Life Visitation has been scheduled to honor Dufrain’s memory. It will take place on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Onarga American Legion in Durham Park, Onarga.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to be made to the Iroquois County Animal Rescue, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or the I Got Your Six 5k Run.
