Kankakee County Health Department announced Monday afternoon 32 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the area. There are now 1,498 cases since the pandemic began in Kankakee County. As of writing, six area residents are hospitalized for the virus.
Ages of newly confirmed cases range from those in their teens to in their 70s. Among them, 23 are male with 9 female.No new deaths were announced since last Friday’s update and remain at 63.
Less than 45% of all cases in the County now have come from a long-term care facility in the area. Among some of the largest institutions that remain active in the area include Shapiro Developmental Center and the Manteno Veterans Home. No changes in active cases have been announced at either facility.
