10 deaths in Will County Saturday, positivity hits 19.2% Region 7

KANKAKEE– With many residents asking “how high will it get?” Region 7 positivity once again set records in Kankakee and Will Counties Saturday, registering 19.2%.

The record-setting rolling seven-day positivity rate brought with it one of the heaviest tolls on life in the Region.  In total, 11 new deaths were announced in Region 7 Saturday afternoon by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), including 10 residents of Will County and one resident of Kankakee.

The rolling statewide rate is now 12.6% as IDPH reported another 11,028 cases today.  

Locally hospitalizations remain below the 20% warning levels Saturday.  Med Surg Bed Availability was 16% Saturday afternoon with ICU Bed Capacity at 15%.

The last day of testing data in Region 7 is from Veterans Day, where 5,687 residents received a COVID test, with 1,144 positives among those tested (20.1%).  It’s the single largest number of positive cases to come out of Region 7 in a single day.
