The State of Illinois is considering a public gathering ban of 250 people or more to limit the spread of the Coronavirus.

The announcement came today while Gov. J.B. Pritzker urged voters to request a vote-by-mail ballot by tomorrow’s deadline. The State is also considering closing large public buildings, like the Thompson Center, temporarily.

Gov. Pritzker noted that decisions to cancel events across the state, as of now, will be made on a local level.

Earlier Wednesday, the NCAA announced all of March Madness games would be played with attendance limited to players, family, and essential personnel. The Big Ten announced tonight it would restrict fan attendance starting tonight to the annual Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis. Today’s games were played in front of fans.

The NBA’s Board of Governors announced tonight it was leaning towards a ban in fan attendance as well, but has yet to issue a formal announcement.
