CHICAGO, IL – The aftermath of Friday night’s storm system continues to haunt the residents of Grundy and Will County as the National Weather Service (NWS) confirms an alarming total of six tornadoes in the region. The NWS Chicago revealed that the tornado count has risen to six after confirming four additional tornadoes from Saturday night’s survey.
“We have confirmed two additional tornadoes from 7/28: an EF-1 tornado from far north Minooka to Shorewood and the west side of Joliet, and an EF-0 tornado from the central part of Minooka eastward to the Des Plaines River,” The NWS Chicago stated late Saturday. “Additional survey work will continue on Sunday from Kendall/Grundy counties east into northwest Indiana.”
Earlier in the day, NWS Chicago had reported two survey teams had confirm two tornadoes in Kankakee County, including an EF-0 and EF-1 twister.
The devastation left by these tornadoes has ranged overall, with some properties severely damaged, power outages, and communities working to recover from the large storm system.
