Indiana: Baby Ejected, Mother Trapped in Horrific Schererville Crash; Second Driver Arrested

SCHERERVILLE, Ind. – A baby and mother faced a harrowing ordeal following a severe two-car crash at Burr St and US 30 at about 8:35 PM on September 23. 

According to investigators reports their car was tragically split in half, leading to the infant being thrown from the vehicle. Immediate medical attention was provided by first responders on scene. The mother, entrapped in the car, required extraction by Schererville Fire before being transported to the hospital. The other driver, whose vehicle bore extensive frontal damage, is now in police custody with charges forthcoming. 

Police report alcohol and excessive speed were involved. Investigations are led by the South Lake County Crash Reconstruction Team.
