Orland Township Food Pantry has turned to the ‘drive thru’ model.
Designed for area residents experiencing financial hardships, Orland Township will begin distributing groceries, free of charge, to any Orland resident in need due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A total of 250 boxes packed with perishable items and a gift card to local grocery stores will be given out on Friday, April 24th from 10 a.m. to 2.p.m, or until boxes run out, at the Orland Township building.
Proof of residency is required to access one of the boxes.
The unique humanitarian effort showcases an opportunity for local agencies across the country to model after while continuing to provide a charitable option to those in their community, while maintaining and practicing social distancing efforts in the pandemic.
