Manhattan Park District announced this afternoon they’ve asked the Will County Police along with Manhattan Police Department to begin patrolling area parks to enforce COVID-19 closures.

“Unfortunately members of our community are not respecting the closures of our Playgrounds, Fields, Courts and Disc Golf Courses.” Said Executive Director, Jay Kelly in a letter to the community earlier today. “We do not want to close our parks completely and ask everyone to respect the seriousness of the COVID-19 situation and abide by these closures appropriately.  Please monitor your children in the parks and ensure their safety by following these guidelines.”

Manhattan Park District also announced limited access to parks via vehicle where possible, including locking access points to fields and courts and wrapping playgrounds with caution tape.
