Asphalt Spill Near High School Triggers Gridlock on Route 45

FRANKFORT, Ill. – Traffic came to a halt on southbound Route 45 today, thanks to a truck mishap near the intersection of Route 45 and Colorado Avenue near Lincoln-Way East High School.

The spillage of asphalt occurred at some point after noon today, leading to a long snarl that only cleared up just before 3pm. Frankfort Police’s message around 1:50pm advised residents to steer clear of the area. 

The semi driver was stopped about two miles south of the spill site. The exact reason behind the asphalt spill remains unknown. Southbound LaGrange Road, bore the brunt of the congestion.
