50-Year-Old Man Shot Dead in Joliet Domestic Incident

JOLIET, Ill – A domestic-related shooting in Joliet left a 50-year-old man dead Monday afternoon. Police officers responded to a residence on Fairlane Drive at approximately 3:57 PM after receiving reports of gunshots.

Upon arrival, they discovered a 50-year-old male victim who had been shot in an open garage. The man was rushed to Ascension St Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The police have established a perimeter around the residence, and other family members were safely evacuated. Area residents were asked to stay indoors while the police conducted their investigation. The police later confirmed that the suspect was not on the scene.

Police have taken a person of interest into custody related to the shooting. There is no danger to the public, according to the police. The investigation is ongoing with further information expected to be released later this evening.
