Mayor Wells-Armstrong Participates During the Mayors Innovation Project Summer Meeting

Mayor Chasity Wells-Armstrong was one of many mayors and local leaders throughout the nation to attend the Mayors Innovation Project Annual Summer Meeting earlier this month. The Mayors Innovation Project is a non-profit, non-partisan learning network specifically created for mayors committed to equity, environmental sustainability and transparent democracy. The Center on Wisconsin Strategy (COWS) is a progressive policy institute housed on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. It was founded in 1991 by UW Professor Joel Rogers. The organization says that its core values are democracy, sustainability and equality.

“We Count 2020” Census Campaign Kick-Off Event

Joliet Mayor Bob O’Dekirk will provide an opening keynote address on the importance of getting a complete count for the upcoming 2020 U.S. Census. The event will also feature a presentation by the U.S. Census Bureau on the basics of the 2020 U.S. Census, and by the Spanish Community Center on outreach efforts to hard-to-count populations of the community.

Join the First Bank of Manhattan and First Bank of New Lenox on August 24th for a free Shredding and Food Drive! The event will take place on August 24th at the First Bank of Manhattan and again on September 14th from 9:30am-11:30am. It’s asked you bring a non-perishable food item for donation to local food pantries. All documents will be shredded on site, limit fifteen boxes.
