HERSCHER – Herscher School Community Unit No. 2 is reporting additional positive cases among staff and students at multiple schools in the District Friday.
“The district has been closely monitoring the health and safety of our staff and students. We have become aware during the week that (1) faculty member at Herscher Intermediate School and (1) staff member at HHS have been diagnosed with COVID-19. In addition to this, we were made aware of an additional HHS student and a student at BGS have also tested positive for COVID-19. These cases are not linked to one another.” Superintendent Dr. Richard S. Decman wrote Friday. The last time any of the latest cases were at school contagious were Thursday, October 29th.
Since the start of the school year, four faculty members and 23 students have been confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Herscher school community. There are now 10 faculty and staff members and 113 students isolated in Herscher schools.
On Monday, Herscher High School was notified of an outbreak by the Kankakee County Health Department and has since gone remote until November 9th.
