BOURBONNAIS, IL – Bourbonnais Elementary School District #53 has secured a significant grant aimed at strengthening mental health services for students.
As part of a $9.5 million state initiative announced by Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Public Health, the district is set to receive $313,341.60. The funds, derived from the American Rescue Plan Act, will enhance post-pandemic child and adolescent health across the state.
“We recognize that the last few years have presented numerous challenges for all of us, and this is especially so for our youth,” Govemor Pritzker said. “Thanks to this infusion of federal funding, we are strengthening school-based programs and local agencies that serve the mental health needs of young people all across Illinois. I applaud the Biden Administration for recognizing the need to direct resources to these kinds of programs that support our youth.”
Secured funds for District #53 can be used to enhance student support, introduce stress management and nutrition curriculums, and bolster mental health training for educators.
