LOMBARD, IL – A startling incident occurred Saturday morning near Mariano’s at Finley and Roosevelt Rd, as a man played a dangerous game of cat and mouse with traffic. The situation took a distressing turn when the man began pleading with officers to shoot him.

The Eastbound lanes of Roosevelt were swiftly blocked off with the assistance of the Glen Ellyn Police Department as they tried to control the escalating situation. Negotiations ensued as authorities attempted to reason with the distraught individual.

Witnesses were left in shock as the man’s desperate cries for lethal action echoed through the air, asking that police kill him.  Officers were able to eventually de-escalate the crisis, apprehending the yet to be identified individual and ensuring his safety as he was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital for evaluation. No charges have been announced in the incident.
