Michigan Man Hospitalized After Deer Strikes Motorcycle

UNION, MI – A motorcyclist from Union, Michigan, was hospitalized after colliding with a deer Monday afternoon. The crash occurred at approximately 4:20 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 12 and M-217 in Porter Township, Cass County.

According to investigators from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, the motorcyclist, Larry Tanner, was traveling southbound when a deer suddenly entered the roadway, striking the motorcycle. Tanner lost control of his bike, resulting in a severe crash.

Emergency services swiftly responded to the scene and transported Tanner by ambulance to South Bend Memorial Hospital. He is currently undergoing treatment for multiple injuries sustained in the accident.

Tanner was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.  Sheriff’s police report it does not appear alcohol played any role in the accident.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
