JOLIET, IL – A man wearing camouflage attire found himself in police custody after a string of alleged attempted burglaries targeting pharmacies in the early morning hours.

The suspect, identified as Josue Tapia, 39 of Plainfield, was booked on burglary charges following the series of unsuccessful break-in attempts.

According to reports, it began around 4:00 AM Thursday when Joliet Police responded to reports of burglar alarms at local pharmacies. Surveillance footage reportedly showed a male suspect dressed in camouflage attempting to gain entry into a CVS Pharmacy, attempting to break a window.  Officers later found significant damage to the pharmacy’s windows and rear doors.

A short time later, officers spotted a person matching the suspect’s description near JD Brown Pharmacy, just two mins north west of the CVS. At that time an individual was seen by officers reportedly attempting to break into the rear door of that establishment.

Police arrested Tapia at the scene without incident.

Tapia now faces multiple charges, including burglary, attempted burglary, possession of burglary tools, possession of a controlled substance, and criminal damage to property.
