Carol Stream DUI Drama: Man Found Walking Away from Crash Site where Mother, Children Injured

CAROL STREAM, IL – After a tragic collision in Sunday in DuPage County that injured a mother and her two children, officers located the alleged offender, Jose Buitureira, 42, walking away from the scene some 210 feet away.

Buitureira, detained pre-trial, faces multiple charges, including Aggravated DUI and Leaving the Scene of an Accident. According to police reports Buitureira was exhibiting clear signs of intoxication, with his BAC was a staggering .316, nearly four times the legal limit.

Officials from DuPage County State’s Attorney and Glendale Heights Police Department have expressed their condemnation of the incident, urging the public to prioritize safety. 

Buitureira’s next court appearance is slated for October 2, 2023.
