CHICAGO, IL – Walker Edison Furniture is recalling around 121,000 twin over twin bunk beds due to the potential of fall and impact hazards. The Consumer Product Safety Commission has reported that the wooden slats which support the bunk beds can break, leading to falls and other injuries.
Fourteen incidents have already been reported about the slats of the bunk beds breaking, including one with minor injuries.
The recalled bunk beds are sold in various colors and finishes and each has a ladder on the side. They were sold online at major retailers including Walmart, Home Depot, Amazon, Overstock, and Wayfair from February 2010 through February 2022. The cost of the bunk beds was between $206 and $389.
Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled bunk beds immediately and contact Walker Edison Furniture for a free repair kit consisting of 12 wooden slats and new instructions. The company is also reaching out to some purchasers directly.
