Pendleton, Indiana – A serious incident unfolded inside the Pendleton Correctional Facility on Thursday around 12:30 p.m., when a correctional officer was reportedly assaulted by an inmate.
Quick-acting responders provided medical care on the scene before the officer was urgently transported to a nearby Indianapolis hospital.
The Indiana State Police Pendleton District and the Indiana Department of Corrections Internal Affairs Division are collaboratively investigating the incident.
The identities of both parties have not been released by officials. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
