Street Party Near Illinois State University Ends in Shooting Incident

NORMAL, Ill. — A boisterous street party a few blocks from Illinois State University took a grim turn in the early hours of Saturday morning when gunshots rang out on the 1500 block of Woods Ave. 

Officers from the Normal Police Department responded promptly around 1:21 am, unearthing evidence of the shooting within a nearby apartment complex’s parking lot. While no injuries were reported at the scene, it later emerged that an ISU student self-transported to OSF St. Joseph Hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot injuries.

The origins of the shooting remain under investigation, and no arrests have been announced. 

Detectives are urging anyone with information to come forward, assuring anonymity for those who prefer it through various reporting methods.
