TERRE HAUTE, IN – A truck reportedly evaded a traffic accident Thursday afternoon, but ended up crashing into the AAA Terre Haute Office Building on US 41, witnesses say.

According to Terre Haute Police, it happened around 3 p.m Thursday.  At least one person inside the business, a customer, was injured in the incident.

“Upon officers arrival it was determined that one customer had received minor injuries as he was struck by office furniture after the vehicle drove through an exterior wall,” Police said in a statement Thursday. Witnesses report a desk was shoved into the customer sternum in the incident.  The customer was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

Emergency personnel swiftly arrived at the scene, tending to the injured and assessing the structural damage caused to the AAA office building.

No word on the condition of the driver.  The crash remains under investigation.
