Victim Airlifted to Hospital After Severe Burns in Wilmington House Fire

WILMINGTON, IL — A fierce blaze rapidly consumed a single-family home in the 34000 block of South Hickory Street Wednesday.

According to reports it began around 1 pm, leaving one victim with devastating burns and firefighters requesting a helicopter to airlift a victim to a nearby hospital.  

Seven area firefighting units responded to the blaze.  The origin of the fire remains under investigation.
