Less than 1,000 residents positive in Region 7 for first time in a week

KANKAKEE  – For the first time in a week, less than 1,000 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 in Region 7.

According to recently released data provided by the Illinois Department of Public Health, residents of Region 7 were administered 4,958 tests Monday, resulting in 980 positive tests, marking the first time in a week less than 1,000 residents tested positive in the combination of Kankakee and Will counties in a single day. 

In the past week, the Region has averaged 5,352 tests per day.  Monday also saw a drop off in total tests taken of nearly 400, with 4,958 tests administered to begin the week.

The Region 7 rolling seven-day positivity remained stagnates at record high 20.7% Thursday afternoon.  Hospital availability remained in warning levels Thursday.  Med surge availability remains at 11% while ICU bed availability is now 15%.  The warning level for both rates is 20%.

Thursday, IPDH reported 14,612 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in Illinois, including 168 additional deaths.

IDPH has now reported 621,383 cases, including 11,178 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. As of last night, 6,037 in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19.  Of those, 1,192 patients were in the ICU and 587 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from November 12 – November 18, 2020 is 14.0%.
